Answer the following questions based on the information you learned from observing the two dragoon soldiers, the colonial farmer/militiaman, and the English officer. This will count as a quiz grade.
In what ways were the French involved in the war? Why?
The French were the American colonist’s allies during the war. The French also supported the American colonists by supplying them with better weapons and better equipment.
2.What is a dragoon? How do they fight? A dragoon is a soldier that rides on horseback. They’d fight on horses using their swords, and musket.
3. List and briefly explain at least two functions of a military uniform (as seen with the two dragoon officers).
The French Dragoon officers had a green and softer material for their military uniform. Under their uniform, they had a spade that represented that they’re French.
The French Dragoon soldiers’ uniforms were blue and made of poor quality fabric. Under their uniform, they had a heart the represented that they were Americans.
4. List four specific ways that a military uniform shows identification/rank.
1) The color, green- officers (high rank), blue- soldiers (lower ranks) 2) Fleur de lys, patches on the officers’ shoulders represents authority. 3) Their footwear, (boots) 4) The weapons/equipments
5. Why might a soldier not wear a wig or have long hair? What does this tell us about the quality of life back then? A soldier might not have long hair, because they won’t have lice. This tells us that back then, it was dirty.
6. In what ways was British military training superior to other armies?
British military training is superior to other armies, because they work to be more fearful, especially with their weapons/musket, and swords.

8. Was it any fun being a British soldier? Use specific evidence to explain. For them, possibly it was fun being a British soldier, because everyone's running away from you as the big army's marching forward. It might also be fun for them to have killed the colonists recklessly with their better weapons.
The colonial farmer/militiaman spoke of being practical and frugal (meaning not wasteful). Provide two examples of how this is true, based on what he said or by the objects he had with him. Because colonists are poor than the British, they have to be frugal by sewing their own clothes. Also when in battle it was hard for them to load into the muskets they've had, so they have to wait within range until they have a chance to shoot the British.
